The Library of the University of Latvia is the main information resource centre for studies and research at the University of Latvia and the largest academic library in Latvia. The library is developing its collection according to the streamlines and requirements of the study programs and the branches of scientific research work carried out in the University of Latvia. The collection of the library is divided into several parts and is located in the branch libraries which cover different science fields. The library contains about 2 million items - books, periodicals, unpublished documents, audio-visual materials, electronic resources and others, related to almost all subject areas in different world languages. The library has subscription to more than 40 databases and has access to 20 000 e-journals. It has also 3 local bibliographic full text databases – History and staff publications, Students' degree papers and Theses of the University of Latvia.
