It is an $80 million government-owned business with 27,000 students enrolled in more than 300 courses in fields from nursing and business management to building design and technology. Southbank delivers training on three campuses – Southbank, Morningside and Kangaroo Point. The institute also provides on-site training across Queensland, the Northern Territory and online training throughout the world. Eleven hundred international students studied at Southbank in 2003, primarily from Asia but also from Europe, Latin America, South Pacific, North America, Middle East and Africa. The institute offers almost twice as many places for diplomas and advanced diplomas as any other Queensland TAFE institute. By the end of 2004, Southbank will have the most university articulation arrangements of any TAFE institute in Queensland. The institute also delivers a host of professional development courses tailored to the individual needs of corporate clients. In 2003, Southbank was assigned leadership accountability (Lead Centres) for Hospitality, Biotechnology, Creative Industries and Printing and Graphic Arts.
