Library information

Description:

The Royal Society of Medicine Library is one of the largest postgraduate biomedical libraries in Europe, with a collection totalling half a million volumes dating back to the 15th century. The Library subscribes to around 2,000 current journals, with titles from around the world covering all aspects of biomedical science, and provides access to a broad range of CD-ROM and online databases and electronic journals. The collection also includes copies of all the key texts in the development of medicine, around 10,000 pre-1901 books and 8,000 superseded periodical titles, and portraits and manuscripts relating to key figures. The Library provides a cost-effective range of high quality services including: self-service photocopying; document delivery (post or fax); journals contents pages on subscription; regular updates from online databases; and online searching on behalf of Library users. Almost all the post-1900 stock is available for loan, and we offer a postal loan service to anywhere in the European Union. The online catalogue provides details of books and reports acquired or re-catalogued from 1984 to present, all journal titles (with summary holdings and most recent issues received), and most supplements and special issues acquired from 1994. You can also access further information about the library and our services from the catalogue.
