Institut informacijskih znanosti, IZUM (the Institute of Information Science) from Maribor is a public institution established by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. It develops and maintains COBISS standards and software, and functions as the National Library Information Service for the needs of Slovenian libraries and end users. The COBISS system is composed of the COBIB union catalogue on the IZUM server, and of as many local catalogues on the servers in the Internet, as there are full-member libraries participating in the system. The COBIB.SI database contains over 2 million records from nearly 260 Slovenian libraries: the National and University Library, Ljubljana, the Central Technological Library, Ljubljana, the University Library Maribor, 66 Faculty and other Higher Education Libraries, 57 Public Libraries, 98 Special Libraries, 34 School Libraries.
